Strong winds expected over Sri Lanka today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Strong winds up to 40 – 45 kilometres per hour can be expected over the island on Saturday (04), particularly in Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern Provinces, and in Trincomalee District, the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Western, and North-Western Provinces, while fairly heavy falls about 75 millimetres can be expected at some places in the Galle, Matara, Ratnapura and Kalutara District.

Met. Department further added that showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in Uva Province and in Batticaloa, Ampara, and Polonnaruwa District after 2.00 PM.
