Mosques to proceed with Friday prayers today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister AHM Haleem has requested the Muslim community in Sri Lanka to extend their fullest support to the security forces who are currently engaged in search operations.

Expressing his views to a prominent online news portal, the Minister said a majority of citizens have assisted in investigations thus far.

Meanwhile the Minister requested Defence Forces to refrain from arresting innocent persons.

Minister Haleem last week requested Muslim citizens to refrain from attending Friday prayers at mosques due to the existing security situation.

However the Minister said Friday prayers at mosques will take place today.

Minister Haleem meanwhile requested the community to remain vigilant and take precautionary methods to ensure safety around the mosques.
