Cabinet Sub-committee to look into tourism

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A Cabinet Sub-committee is due to be appointed today for the development of the tourism industry which was severely affected after the Easter Sunday bombings.

President Maithripala Sirisena said the Sub-committee will be appointed during today’s weekly Cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile the Cabinet meeting will also focus on the provision of concessionary fund facilities for the development of the tourism sector.

During a meeting with hoteliers and tourism industry experts, the President had said the present government will be committed towards the development of the tourism sector, hotel industry and all other sectors affected by the Easter Sunday attacks.

President Sirisena has stressed that the government will defeat the terror groups adding an environment will be created where the tourism industry will flourish while the general public can carry-out day-to-day activities void of fear.
