“Politicians instigating violence must be punished” – MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian Wijepala Hettiarachchi says politicians who instigate violence, propagating rumours and those instil fear amongst people through statements should be punished severally irrespective of their ranks or status.

Speaking to media in Galle, MP Hettiarachchi said some opposition members have launched an organised campaign to create a public backlash against politicians and families of some politicians.

He accused several so-called patriots of instigating violence in an attempted create instability in the country.

Parliamentarian Wijepala Hettiarachchi noted such persons should be punished under existing laws.

He also emphasised the importance of taking action to rebuild the tourism industry which took a hit after the Easter Sunday bombings.
