Security forces continue fight against terrorism

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Security forces say the Tri-Forces and the Police are continuously engaged in operations to eradicate terrorism.

Issuing a statement the Department of Government Information said special attention has been drawn towards ensuring the continuation of essential services without any hindrances.

Therefore steps have been taken to provide transportation facilities without the public being inconvenienced.

Accordingly all train journeys except the night mail is in place while a special security plan will be in place at all train stations.

Meanwhile the Department of Railways said railway officials will conduct search operations on any suspicious parcels and individuals found to be behaving in a suspicious manner.

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Transport Board instructed provincial managers to ensure the deployment of buses according to the demand of the public even though buses have been deployed according to the usual time table.

The National Transportation Commission meanwhile said private buses have also been deployed according to the usual timetable while a special security plan is in place to ensure the safety of passengers.

Meanwhile the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says steps have been taken to ensure the continuation of fuel distribution activities without any hindrances.

Distribution Manager of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation WA Bandara said the distribution of fuel outstation, remain uninterrupted.

Furthermore Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Captain Athula Hewavithana said all services at the Ports Authority are being carried out as usual while security has been beefed up.

Meanwhile the government has requested the public to remain vigilance and provide information to the security forces when required.
