No Sunday Dhamma school until schools reopen

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Buddha Sasana has informed that all Sunday Dhamma Schools must remain closed, until schools are officially declared open.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal, the Commissioner of Sunday Dhamma Schools, Department of Buddhist Affairs, HM Kumari said the decision to keep Sunday schools closed was reached in consideration of the country’s prevailing security situation.

The National Security Council yesterday decided to postpone the re-opening of all schools and universities in the island until the 6th of May.

The Security Council headed by the President reached this decision when it convened last evening at the Office of the President.

The Council had also discussed deploying increased security presence at examination centres.
