Island-wide curfew lifted [UPDATE]

(UTV|COLOMBO) – An overnight curfew imposed quiet in capital city Colombo, before it was lifted on Tuesday morning (23).

The city’s beachfront hotel district, where several of the bombs struck Sunday (21), was heavily guarded.

The Government of Sri Lanka yesterday (22) decided to re-impose an island-wide Police curfew from 8.00 PM today till 4.00 this morning.

A curfew was imposed following the bombings which killed 290 people and injured 500 others in a series of explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, one of the most sacred days of the year for Christians.
