More arrested in connection with Easter Blasts in Sri Lanka

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Two individuals from Kattankudy and Mawanella, were arrested for behaving suspiciously at a hotel in the town of Dambulla, the Police stated.

The arrests were made in relation to the Sunday’s bombings.

Meanwhile, a father and son from Diyatalawa were arrested with T56 ammunition and 9 millimetre pistol ammunition cases during a cordon and search operation carried out by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).

Furthermore, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was discovered on Sunday (21) near the road leading to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), and was disposed in controlled explosion at site by the SLAF.

At least 290 people were killed and 500 more injured in a series of explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday (21), one of the most sacred days of the year for Christians.
