Four arrested over Rs.25 million gem theft

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Four suspects have been arrested by Police in Homagama with a gem worth Rs.25 million that was stolen last month in Negombo.

The gem was stolen on the 24th when it was brought to a hotel in Negombo to be sold.

The businessman who was in possession of the gem at the time was abducted while the robbers had also stolen Rs.50,000 in cash.

An investigation by the Peliyagoda West Criminal Investigation Division led to the arrest of the suspects.

The four suspects, residents of Homagama, will be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court today.
