Arrested-ASP before Court today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Mannar, U. D. Alawatta who was arrested on Monday (01) would be produced before Kesbewa Magistrate today (02).

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Alawatta in connection with the disappearance of a detainee in 2008, when he was the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) at the Piliyandala Police.

The CID summoned Alawatta at 9.30 AM yesterday to record a statement over the incident and arrested him at around 9.00 PM.

He is alleged to have kidnapped an individual in Madapatha and detained him for three-days.
