New uniforms for the Police – MS

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena says steps are being taken to introduce new uniforms for Police personnel, replacing the current khaki uniform.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of a new building at the Kosgama Police station the Head of State said discussions on the matter are currently underway with relevant officials.

The President said it was his personal belief that uniforms were in need of change, adding the khaki colour has lost its value over time and the general public has developed both positive and negative views regarding the uniform.

The Head of State stressed an official uniform bears a wide impact which must be considered carefully.
