Defending champion St. Joseph’s in command

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Defending champion St. Joseph’s College Colombo dominated against Prince of Wales College Moratuwa on day one in the quarter final of the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 division 1 inter schools 2 day cricket tournament at Army grounds Panaagoda yesterday.

Prince of Wales College Moratuwa won the toss and elected to field. St. Joseph’s College Colombo bowled out for 235 runs in 79.3 overs. Dunith Wellalage scored 56 runs and Johanne de Zilva scored 43 runs. Sachintha Mahindasinghe (31), Shevon Daniel (29) and Ashain Daniel (28) helped to build their innings. Lakshan Perera took 3 wickets for 35 runs. Kaumal Nanayakkara took 3 wickets and Suwath Mendis took 2 wickets.

Prince of Wales were 25 runs for 4 wickets at close. Lakshan Gamage took 4 wickets for 8 runs.
