Sharif is serving a seven-year prison sentence in a corruption case.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan today accepted ousted premier Nawaz Sharif’s plea granting him bail for six weeks, allowing him to seek medical treatment within the country.

The plea was accepted by the three-judge bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa on medical grounds, Dawn reported.

Sharif would surrender himself to the court after the completion of his medical treatment. He would not leave the country without the doctor’s instructions,” Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris was quoted by The Express Tribune.

Sharif is serving a seven-year prison sentence awarded to him by an accountability court in the Al Azizia corruption case.
