More Army-held lands in East to be released

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Army currently engaged in the release of more and more private and state lands, hitherto being used by the Army in the East will release 5.05 more acres in Thiriyaya, Periyanilaveli and Thirukkovil Grama Seva sectors in the Kuchchaveli, Kalmunai and Thirukkovil Divisional Secretariats on Monday (25) as the 4th phase of the programme in the East.

Of them, 3.5 acres belong to private land owners and the rest is owned by the State.

The formal handover of documents to this effect is scheduled at Ampara District Secretariat in the presence of religious leaders, Governor, District Secretary, Divisional Secretaries, Commander, Security Forces – East, State Officials, land owners, Grama Seva Officials and other invitees.

Release of those Army-held lands, to be in line with the Presidential directive is continuing uninterrupted in the North and East without compromising national security interests on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.

Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Commander, Security Forces – East symbolising gestures of goodwill and reconciliation will hand over those formal documents at Ampara on Monday.
