Colour coding mandatory for biscuits, sweetmeats from 02 April

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A Colour Code System according to the fat, salt, and sugar content of the foods and beverages, including biscuits and sweetmeats will be mandatory from 02 April, the Minister of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne announced.

Accordingly, all foods and beverages are required to be colour coded according to its fat, salt, and sugar contents.

However, these regulations will not be applied to baby foods and infant formula, bottled water, coffee, fruits, medically-prescribed foods, milk, rice, small packeted foods, tea, and vegetables.
