Mobile phones banned from Cabinet meetings

(UTV|COLOMBO) – It has been decided that mobile phones will henceforth not be permitted inside the meeting venue of the Cabinet.

President Maithripala Sirisena has made the decision in order to prevent Ministers utilising mobile phones while the Cabinet meeting was in progress.

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers have been asked not to carry mobile phones in Cabinet meetings.

Earlier, Ministers were allowed to bring mobile phones with them which would be kept either on silent mode or preferably switched off.
