VIP Assassination Plot: Nalaka de Silva’s bail application rejected

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Colombo High Court on Friday (08) rejected a bail application put forward by the former Head of the Terrorism Investigations Department (TID), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Nalaka de Silva who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the alleged assassination plot on President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The CID is currently investigating the allegations made by the Operational Director of the Anti-Corruption Movement Namal Kumara that Nalaka de Silva had been allegedly conspiring to assassinate President Sirisena and Gotabaya Rajapaksa by using underworld criminal ‘Makadure Madush’ who was recently arrested in Dubai.

Nalaka de Silva was sent on compulsory leave and later interdicted by the National Police Commission (NPC) following a recommendation forwarded by the Ministry of Law and Order, while a separate inquiry is in progress over the automatic firearms of the Division that had gone missing.
