Elba replaces Smith in “Suicide Squad 2”

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Idris Elba has been revealed as Will Smith’s replacement in the role of Deadshot in the “Suicide Squad” sequel at Warner Bros. Pictures.

Smith had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts, and the studio moved fast to secure another A-lister to replace him before filming begins in September. Elba met with the film’s writer/director James Gunn and things went so well he quickly began serious talks.

It’s expected Margot Robbie will return as Harley Quinn in the film, but that’s not certain yet, while Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg is said to be out. The movie will mostly feature a new group of characters.

The release date of the project is currently set for August 6th 2021. Elba will be seen this Summer in “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw” and later this year in the “Cats” movie.
