Sri Lanka should be made the centre for propagation of Theravada Buddhism to the world – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena says the foundation of a good society is the relationship between the Temple and the Village.

Speaking during an event in event in Polonnaruwa President Sirisena said over the past decades the country has developed in terms of psychical assets as well as spiritually.

The Head of State noted the Buddhists of the country should be grateful for the fact that the number of temples and places of worship have increased adding it is a spiritual victory.

President Sirisena meanwhile stressed on the importance of protecting the Maha Sangha of the country which is considered as the central hub of the Theravadhi Buddhism.
