Claims against uniform vouchers false- Akila Viraj Kariyawasam

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam has refuted claims that the government incurred a high cost in printing uniform vouchers in comparison to the cost incurred by the previous regime to distribute uniform material.

Speaking to media in Kuliyapitiya Minister Kariyawasam said those who make such claims are comparing the costs incurred in 2014 as opposed to the cost in 2019.

The Minister noted there were many concerns pertaining to the issuance of uniform materials in terms of costs incurred in purchasing, packaging, storing and distribution.

Minister Kariyawasam stressed when printing the uniform vouchers the government must include security features to protect the validity of the voucher.
