Uva, Ratnapura urged to take preventive measures against lightning

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology is warning the public to take preventive measures against lightning strikes, as severe lightning activities are expected in Uva Province and Ratnapura District on Wednesday (27).

Furthermore, the showers or thundershowers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva Provinces, and in Kurunegala and Anuradhapura Districts after 2.00 PM.

Fairly heavy falls above 75 millimetres can be expected at some places in Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces, and Hambanthota and Matara Districts, while light showers may occur in Southern, Western, and Eastern coastal areas in morning too, the Met. Department further added.
