CID to handover vehicle linked to murders of missing businessmen to Govt. Analyst

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is to handover the vehicle utilised to transport the bodies of two missing businessmen in Bossa – Rathgama, to Walasmulla to the Government Analyst’s Department for further investigations.

The vehicle was recovered by the CID on Monday (25).

The investigations conducted by the CID have revealed that the two missing businessmen, 33-year-old Manjula Asela and 31-year-old Rasen Chinthaka were abducted from the residence of Asela last month by a group of individuals dressed in uniforms similar to that of the Police Officers.

Two businessmen were murdered in Akmeemana and their remains were burned at Medagangoda Forest Reserve in Walasmulla, the investigations later revealed.

The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Southern Province Special Crime Investigation Unit along with fifteen other Police Officers were ordered to be transferred on 22 February, while a Police Inspector (IP) and a Sub Inspector (SI) attached to the same Unit were remanded over the incident.
