Navy recovers stock of explosives in Mannar

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Naval Personnel attached to the North-Central Naval Command in coordination with the Mannar Police recovered a stock of explosives concealed in bushes during a search conducted in the general area of South Bar, Mannar on Sunday (24).

During the search, 1.1 kilogramme of gelignite (Eleven sticks), 3 non-electric detonators, and 3 safety fuses (Three inches each) were found and they were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward action.

In a similar vein, the Navy arrested a suspect with a cache of explosives in the same locality on 10 February. The Naval Personnel are ever alert to curb such illegal acts performed by a handful of people.
