Eight including Aluthgamage‘s son arrested over hit-and-run incident [UPDATE]

(UTV|COLOMBO) – UPDATE: Eight persons including the son of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage have been arrested by the Police in connection with the accident in which the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) attached to the Traffic Division of Borella Police Station was struck in an apparent hit-and-run in Bambalapitiya.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Police took a person of interest into custody on Sunday (24) after the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) attached to the Traffic Division of Borella Police Station was struck in an apparent hit-and-run in Bambalapitiya.

The defender vehicle, WP FZ 9143 which fled following a hit-and-run that led to critical injuries of the OIC has been discovered at a residence in Pelawatte, Battaramulla yesterday.

The vehicle was identified after footage of security cameras in the area where the hit-and-run took place were observed.

Further investigations are underway to determine to identify who was inside the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The injured OIC is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Colombo.
