Beedi leaves meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka seized in Tamil Nadu

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Beedi leaves weighing around 800 kilogrammes and meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka were seized by Customs Officials at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Saturday (23), the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

A team of Customs Personnel who raided the area on a tip-off found the beedi leaves hidden at a few places on the sea coast near Uchipuli, the Officials said.

A search has been launched for those involved in the smuggling bid, they added.
