Accomplice of ‘Kanjipani Imran’ arrested

(UTV|COLOMBO) – An accomplice of leading underworld figure, ‘Kanjipani Imran’ has been arrested in Kolonnawa on Friday (22).

The 50-year-old suspect, Mohamed Naufer Mohamed Ali was arrested with 10 grams and 480 milligrams of heroin during a raid conducted by the Organised Crimes Prevention Division (OCPD).

Imran was among the underworld figures arrested red-handed with the drug kingpin, ‘Makandure Madush’ in a raid at a hotel in Dubai.

A large quantity of drugs was recovered from the suspects in the joint operation by the Dubai Police and Sri Lankan Law Enforcement Authorities.

Madush, who is among Sri Lanka’s most wanted criminals, had been evading arrest for the past couple of years.

The Authorities are now in talks with Dubai to extradite him to Sri Lanka.
