Qatar Emir travels to Sri Lanka on private visit

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived on Sunday (17) in Sri Lanka on a private visit.

He was accompanied by a 33-member delegation that arrived at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA) on a Qatar Airways flight. The Emir was seen off at the Airport by several high-profile Officials, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, another aircraft arrived on Friday (15) carrying 14 people reportedly belong to the Personal Staff of the Emir.

The Emir of Qatar will be in the country until 22 February.

Several well-placed sources speculated that the Emir will look into investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka. Further details of the visit were not disclosed.
