Gazette declaring ‘Tripitaka’ as National heritage issued

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Gazette Notification declaring the Buddhist sacred text ‘Tripitaka’ as a National heritage of Sri Lanka has been issued.

A proposal was made by President Maithripala Sirisena and approved by the Cabinet to help spread Buddhism among the people of Sri Lanka. The Buddha Sasana Ministry was vested with the power to oversee the reprinting of the ‘Tripitaka’.
