SLFP to take disciplinary action against members voting for National Govt.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has decided to take stern disciplinary action against its Parliamentarians voting in favour of the motion on the National Government.

During his Independence Day address to the Nation on Monday (04), President Maithripala Sirisena emphasised that he is not in favour of forming a National Government.

“I see the proposal about a National Government in the media,” the President stated, adding that “It is necessary to ask how ethical is to claim the formation of a National Government by joining with a political party which has only a single Member of Parliament (MP).

“I only see that as an attempt to increase the number of Ministers and increase in the facilities of the Ministers and MPs,” he stressed.

Therefore, “I strongly disagree to the idea of proposed National Government,” President Sirisena said.
