Flight arrangements delay dispatch of remains of Lankan UN Peacekeepers

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Due to flight arrangements, the dispatch of the remains of Sri Lankan United Nations (UN) Peacekeepers from Mali has been delayed, according to the Directorate of Overseas Operations at the Army Headquarters.

Remains of Major H. W. D. Jayawickrama of 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Sergeant S. S. Wijekumara of 1 Mechanised Infantry Regiment who sacrificed their lives in Mali in an explosion on 25 January were to be flown to Sri Lanka earlier on Saturday (02) at 3.00 PM.
