Railway Station Masters to launch a strike from midnight Wednesday

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters Union says that since the discussion held with Transport Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva yesterday (06th Monday) was unsuccessful.

Therefore a 48-hour Trade Union action will be launched from midnight tomorrow.

They have decided to resort to a trade union action over several demands including speedy filling of vacancies existing in the railway service.

Union chairman N. U. K. Jayawardhana told our news team that although the strike would be implemented, office trains schedules will be carried out as per norm.

But he attested that they would not carry out issuing of tickets or reservation of seats.
