Johnston acquitted from assets non-declaration case

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), Parliamentarian Johnston Fernando has been acquitted from the case over allegedly failing to prove his annual assets and liabilities for the year 2010.

While handing out the judgment regarding the case on Tuesday (29), Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ruled that the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has failed to prove the accused guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and ordered that he be released from the case.
