JO says the JVP can’t face the LG election

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Joint Opposition (JO) charges that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) is engaged in efforts to delay the conduct of the Local Government election. United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Vasudeva Nanayakkara speaking at a rally in Kalutara said the United National Party (UNP) and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) are eagerly awaiting the election.

The MP said they will engage in continuous protests, calling for the conduct of the election. MP Nanayakkara said there are a number of people who want to contest the local government election in Parliament.

However the party claimed the JVP is trying to delay the election as they will find it difficult to face an election. The TNA and the UNP he said want to contest the local government election.

MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara also explained the role and responsibility of Former President Parliamentarian Mahinda Rajapaksa at the upcoming Local Government election. He said MP Rajapaksa is ready to come forward.
