Lankan jailed for drug dealing in Doha

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Sri Lankan to three years in prison and subsequent deportation for illegally dealing.

Arab news outlets said Court also ordered the Lankan to pay 200,000 Qatar riyal for the offence.

The Gulf Times reported the matter came to light after the Drugs Prevention Department at the Ministry of Interior received information from a source that the defendant used to consume and sell drugs.

More drugs were found during a thorough search of his apartment.

During interrogation, the Lankan admitted to drug dealing.
