Hundreds of livestock killed in Northern floods

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Thousands of people in the North have been affected by the floods following heavy rains experienced in the area since last week.

Hundreds of livestock have been killed in the floods in the North, reports from the area said.

Officials were quoted as saying that in Mullaitivu alone over 1280 cattle, over 600 goats and over 4000 chicken have been killed.

The deaths have been recorded by Government officials in the area.

Several acres of farm land have also been destroyed by the floods.
