Scheduled railway strike called off

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Railway trade unions have decided to suspend the 48 hour strike launched from midnight today (26) protesting against not implementing the cabinet approval granted for the salary of railway employees and the grade anomalies.

Train engineering operators, regulators, station masters, supervisors and officials of the Control and train  Supervision Management Services were ready allowed to start the strike together

The trade unions further stated that the decision was called off due to the promise given to them by Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and representatives of trade unions regarding their issue in a month’s time.
