15 senior students of Peradeniya University further remanded

(UDHAYAM,KANDY) – Fifteen students of the Agriculture Faculty of the University of Peradeniya arrested for allegedly ragging first year students of the same faculty have been further remanded.

The students were remanded till the 16th of March by the Kandy Magistrate’s Court when the case was taken up for hearing today.

When the case was taken up for hearing police informed Court that investigations were being conducted to determine if the mobile phones of the 15 students contained any nude videos or images of the students who were subject to the ragging.

The 15, second year students were arrested on suspicion over inhumanely ragging 8 students.

The students were arrested when a house was raided in Galaha by the Disciplinary Unit of the University and the police.

The 15 students of the Agriculture Faculty have been banned from attending lectures until further notice by the University administration.
