Kalutara Prison Bus shooters plan to flee the country

(UDHAYAM,COLOMBO)    –  Two police teams have been stationed at the Katunayake and Matala airports as intelligence has revealed that the suspects involved in the prison bus shooting have made plans to flee the country.

The suspects are believed to be carrying fake passports have been identified, and are yet to be arrested.  A total of seven persons, including two prison guards and 5 prisoners, were killed after a group of gunmen opened fire at a prison transport bus in Kalutara on February 27.

The guards who died in the line of duty have been identified as S. Sannigam and S.R. Wijerathne. Police spokesman DIG Priyantha Jayakody said that the Toyota Hiace van, believed to have been used by the suspects who carried out the attack on February 27 to flee the scene, was found abandoned in the Moragahahena area in Horana.
