(UTV|COLOMBO) – UPDATE: The Court of Appeal has decided to hear the Quo Warranto Writ Petition filed by 122 Parliamentarians against Mahinda Rajapaksa holding the Office of Prime Minister and his Cabinet, on 16, 17, and 18 January, 2019.
Interim Injunction order suspending the functions of the Prime Minister, Cabinet of Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and State Ministers will remain in effect until a judgment is issued on the petition.

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Quo Warranto Writ Petition filed by 122 Parliamentarians at the Court of Appeal, will be taken up today (12).
Writ Petition sought an order in the nature of Quo Warranto declaring that Mahinda Rajapaksa is not entitled to hold the Office of Prime Minister.
The first hearing of the petition took place on 03 December where an Interim Injunction order temporarily suspending the functions of the Prime Minister, Cabinet of Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and State Ministers, was issued.
The Court further stressed the Interim Injunction order will remain in effect until a judgment is issued on the petition.
The Appeals Court also took steps to issue notice to the aforementioned position-holders led by Rajapaksa to appear before Court today.
