“Renewed faith in judiciary and democracy,” ACMC hails Appeal Court decision

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) hailed the Court of Appeal decision to issue an Interim Injunction against Mahinda Rajapaksa and his Government, preventing them from acting as Prime Minister, and the Cabinet of Ministers.

The decision of the Appeal Court has renewed faith in Sri Lanka’s judiciary and democracy, the Leader of ACMC, Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen tweeted on Monday (03).

Appeal Court also issued notices for the 49-member Cabinet, including Rajapaksa to appear before the Court on 12 December for the hearing of Petition.

The Quo Warranto Writ Petition filed by 122 Parliamentarians at the Appeal Court was taken up today.

The Writ Petition sought an order in the nature of Quo Warranto declaring that Rajapaksa is not entitled to hold the Office of Prime Minister.
