CDS transferred from Magazine to Welikada

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne who was remanded on Wednesday (28) over allegedly protecting the prime suspect in the high-profile disappearances of eleven youths in 2008 and 2009, has been transferred from Magazine Prison to Welikada Prison due to security reasons, the Prisons Spokesperson said on Thursday (29).

Wijegunaratne was remanded till 05 December after statements were recorded in Fort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday over allegations of assisting former Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi of the Sri Lanka Navy, who is the main suspect in the abduction and forced disappearances of eleven youth, to evade Court.
