Parliament to convene tomorrow [UPDATE]

(UTV|COLOMBO) – UPDATE: Following a meeting with the Party Leaders, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has decided to convene Parliament at 1.30 PM on Friday (16).

(UTV|COLOMBO) – UPDATE: Parliament adjourned till 21 November following the tense situation in the House this morning (15).

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Tense situation breaks out in Parliament when Parliamentarians commence clashing with each other when a vote was called on Mahinda Rajapaksa’s statement.

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Dilum Amunugana reportedly injured while he was pulling the microphone of the Speaker during the tense situation in Parliament, and admitted to Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital.

Meanwhile, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya left his Parliamentary seat after a wastepaper basket and some documents were thrown at him.

Mahinda Rajapaksa, Ranil Wickremesinghe and several other Parliamentarians have left the Parliament Chamber as the tense situation continues to prevail.
