Commander briefs Defence Secretary on reconciliation commitments in North and East

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army on Monday (12) paid a courtesy call on the newly-appointed Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando at his Office in the Ministry of Defence.

During the formal meeting, Lieutenant General Senanayake briefed Fernando on the present day roles and tasks of the Army as well as its dedicated commitment towards reconciliation gestures in the North and East.

Fernando expressed his appreciation towards the services, being rendered by the Army and assured his continued cooperation for smooth conduct of affairs in the organisation in future too.

Towards the end of the interaction, the Lieutenant General extending his greetings on his appointment presented a memento to Defence Secretary as a gesture of goodwill.
