UK raise concerns on President’s decision to dissolve Parliament

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The United Kingdom (UK) has raised concerns over the decision taken by President Maithripala Sirisena to dissolve Parliament.

“Concerned by news that Sri Lanka’s Parliament has been dissolved days before it was due to be reconvened. As a friend of Sri Lanka, the UK calls on all parties to uphold the Constitution and respect democratic institutions and processes,” the UK Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific Mark Field tweeted on Saturday (10).
