Presidential Secretariat issues communiqué on existing Cabinet

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Presidential Secretariat has notified to all the Heads of the Government Departments, Chairmen of the State Corporations, Statutory Boards and State Banks that in view of the appointment of a new Prime Minister with effect from 26 October, the tenure of the existing Cabinet of Ministers shall stand dissolved.

The Department of Government Information made this announcement via a communiqué on Saturday (27).

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the country before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday.

His swearing-in ceremony was held after the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) officially conveyed its decision to part ways with the Coalition Government.
