Gazette Notification published making Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister

(UTV|COLOMBO) – An Extraordinary Gazette Notification on Friday (26) published making former President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

The Government Printer stated that two Extraordinary Gazette Notifications were published Friday night.

One Notification is on Ranil Wickremesinghe being removed as the Prime Minister and the other on the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaska as the new Prime Minister.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the country before President Maithripala Sirisena at the Presidential Secretariat last evening.

His swearing-in ceremony was held after the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) officially conveyed its decision to part ways with the Coalition Government. It is reported that party members had expressed their displeasure over the conduct of the good governance Government to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya Friday evening.
