Dedicating Sundays for Daham Pasal education has become a necessity – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Dedicating Sundays for Dham Pasal education has become necessity on behalf of the nation and the future of the children, said the President.

President Sirisena also pondered that since the significance of this matter has already been identified, all parties should work towards implementing it rather than issuing circulars, regulations, or orders.

President Sirisena mentioned this addressing the 8th conference of All Island Professional Lecturer’s Association held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) today (24).

President mentioned that it is essential to educate children with the knowledge of religion on the path towards building a society with values. He said that he keeps faith on the teachers that they would accomplish their duties as a respectable party in the society in solving this social issue.

It is hard for the government to overcome the challenges enforced by the society towards the children so that all should collaborate in accomplishing their duties individually, President further stated.

President Sirisena said that, the value and reputation of the teaching profession cannot be compared with any other profession and that the government is dedicated towards securing the values and the means of the teaching profession through well established policies.

The President also emphasized the importance of the government working with the All Island Professional Lecturer’s Association closely for these objectives and added that the government is ready address all the grievances and other issues.

The annual souvenir of All Island Professional Lecturer’s Association was presented to the President. President Sirisena presented gifts to the members of the society. A special token of appreciation was also presented to the President.

Minister Wijeydasa Rajapakshe, Dayasiri Jayasekara, officials, Chairmen of All Island Professional Lecturer’s Association and other members were present in this event.
