Agunukolapelessa inmates’ protest: Eight detainees transferred to different prisons

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Eight of the detainees who staged a protest recently at the Angunukolapelessa Prison demanding the removal of Special Task Force (STF) personnel from supervising prison security have been transferred to different prisons.

The transfer had been made as the relevant eight detainees had pleaded guilty and requested to be transferred following the protest.

Among the transferred detainees are ‘Julampitiya Amare’, Abeynayake, ‘Tangalle Mahesh’, who have been detained over charges related to murder and heroin.

They have been transferred to Kalutara, Kuruvita, Galle, Matara and Monaragala prisons.
