(UTV|COLOMBO) – Former DIG Nalaka de Silva arrived at CID short while ago for 4th day today (23) to give statement on assassination plot on President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The CID has recorded a nine-hour long statement from DIG Nalaka de Silva yesterday (22) over the allegations made against him.
The CID is currently investigating the allegations made by the Operational Director of the Anti-Corruption Movement Namal Kumara that DIG Nalaka de Silva had been allegedly conspiring to assassinate President Sirisena and Gotabaya Rajapaksa by using underworld criminal ‘Makadure Madush’ who is absconding Court at the moment.
DIG Nalaka de Silva was sent on compulsory leave and later interdicted by the National Police Commission (NPC) following a recommendation forwarded by the Ministry of Law and Order, while a separate inquiry is in progress over the automatic firearms of the Division that had gone missing.
