‘Ali Roshan’ and 6 others summoned before Special High Court

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Permanent High Court-at-Bar has issued summons on seven defendants including notorious elephant racketeer Niraj Roshan alias ‘Ali Roshan’ to appear before the Court on 26 October.

The defendants also include a former Deputy Director of the Wildlife Department Upali Padmasiri and the Officer-in-Charge of Registering Elephants at the Wildlife Department Priyangika Sanjeewani.

Roshan was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at his residence in Gemunu Mawatha, Pelenwatte Road, Pannipitiya.

The suspect is notorious for capturing elephant calves from jungles and selling them to various persons.
